Highlighted Recipe - Homemade Sloppy Joe's

This is a recipe my Mom use to make us and it's REALLY simple and REALLY fast!! It's a huge success for our family now, especially for my daughter who LOVES it. I hope you enjoy!

After draining the fat from the hamburger and onion, be sure you first add the 1 T. of Flour and cook it until it coats the meat and is turning brown. Then you can add all the remaining ingredients! Cooking the flour first, cooks the weird flavor out since this is really used as a thickening ingredient in this meal.

*Edit: We no longer add the 1 T of Sugar and add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce for flavor.*

Enjoy and please let me know if you took a stab at this recipe!!

  1. Recently, I have been trying to cut down on empty carbs. When sloppy joes were on our menu at home, I made the cauliflower pizza crust and cut it into squares to serve as my bun for the sloppy joes. I used the remaining pieces with left overs the next day and in place of an English muffin for an egg sandwich. Just sharing another healthy alternative. :)

    1. Great advice Teri!!! I've seen so many different recipes that involved cauliflower, but have yet to try them! We really need to though. I have one for cauliflower mashed "potatoes" and one for cauliflower soft tortillas. Maybe I need to put that on my list for the next shopping trip. :-D

    2. Cauliflower mashed "potatoes" are good, as is cauliflower "rice" with stir fry.
