Weigh-in Wednesday - Oh How I've Missed This...

Hello All,

It's been a long time since my last post. There has been a lot that has happened since my last post. We've had a lot of adventures, a lot of ups and downs a lot of struggles and frustrations and a lot of fun memories that will last a life time.

In my lifestyle, that's been a roller coaster. When my husband started school and I had to adjust my work schedule to accommodate our new normal, I cut out my lunchtime workouts and didn't make up for them anywhere. I gained between 15 and 20 lbs in 6 months and was out of control. I was eating everything in sight, not working out at all and just let myself spiral out of control. From August 2018 through January 2020, my weight was a yo-yo. It stayed around 15 lbs over my comfortable zone, but the worst part was I stopped lifting weights regularly and working on my cardio. I just let myself get lazy and stay that way.

Weigh-in Wednesday - 5 Recovery Tips

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Today I wanted to discuss recovery when it comes to all the pressure that we put on our bodies to transform.  So many of us spend the majority of our time focusing on our training plans that we forget the most important element in working towards this healthy lifestyle, recovery.

Giving our bodies time to recover is key in becoming faster, stronger, better and even lose those pesky lbs you've been focused on for weeks, months and even years.

Here I share my top five go-to tricks for recovering from all the work I put in day after day.

Weigh-in Wednesday - Workout Apparel and Mindset

Hello Everyone!

This week I wanted to visit a topic that I had a different opinion on towards the start of my healthy lifestyle journey then I do now. The topic is, does your workout apparel affect your mindset when being active?

When I first started my healthy lifestyle journey I would wear a t-shirt and some yoga pants.  It wasn't anything special, but I'd always thought, "Why buy anything special to workout in when you're just going to get sweaty?" I couldn't understand why people would want to spend extra money on a ton of outfits for the sole purpose of working out.

Well today, I definitely have a different opinion on this...

Weigh-in Wednesday - Women and Weight Lifting

I am happy to see that more women are starting to lift weights and making it a part of their normal routine. I still think it's something that many women struggle with wrapping their head around. For this reason, today I wanted to run through the common misconceptions of weight lifting for women and why it's actually very beneficial to pick up and maintain.

Weigh-in Wednesday - My Breastfeeding Chronicles

For today's Weigh-in Wednesday, I wanted to share with you my personal experience with breastfeeding this go round. I thought it would be nice to have more information out there discussing women who exclusively pump and why we choose to go this route.

First and foremost, I want to state that I believe every woman has a right to choose whichever path she wants to in this area.  This is a VERY personal decision and something that only a mother can make.  Whether you want to exclusively feed from your breast, pump, feed formula or go the route of a combination of the above, it is YOUR decision.  I personally feel like every mother is doing what is best for her own situation and what is best for her baby/child and should be treated with respect no matter what route she goes!!

I also wanted to state that due to my own experience, I felt that sharing it would assist other women in knowing other options that are available that might not be discussed with them as they try to navigate the crazy/fun/stressful/enjoyable whirl wind that is breastfeeding.

Weigh-in Wednesday - Meal Planning

Something I'm a huge believer in is meal planning.  I started this when I was a poor college kid trying to stretch a dollar as much as possible and it's continued over the past 10 - 11 years!

Meal planning isn't just great for budgeting, but it's also wonderful for living a healthy lifestyle and making those healthy food choices. Not only can you plan a balanced meal, but you can also avoid the urge to swing through a drive thru since you already know what you'll be eating at home!

Today I'm going to tell you how we do meal planning for our family with some of my personal tips to make this stick for your own...

Weigh-in Wednesday - How to Drink More Water

One of the many things you hear when putting more research time into living a healthier lifestyle is the need to drink more water.  Typically the average person does not consume enough water in a day. I truly believe that most of us, who do not already make a conscious decision to watch our water intake, would be baffled at how little they actually drink.

For this reason, I wanted to share some tips and tricks that my husband and I have used to ensure that we are getting at least 64 oz of water each day. (This is actually drinking it and not calculating the water that is in food and other beverages.)

Weigh-in Wednesday - High Blood Pressure

This is my own personal account with High Blood Pressure and how I beat it!

I personally, for as long as I can remember, have had high blood pressure. Even when I was in high school, on a dance team at 123 lbs, I had high blood pressure because 1) it's in my genes and 2) I was still eating terribly!! (medium pizzas, big macs, fast food on a daily basis, large amounts of food because I was "young" and "could do whatever I wanted")
